W.A.S. Rescue Group Partners

The Warren Animal Shelter also works in conjunction with two rescue groups that transport adoptable pets from over-crowded shelters. The Warren Animal Shelter functions as a stop- over site where owners can pick up their newly adopted pets from All for the Animals or Perry’s Orphans. Their lists of adoptable pets will be listed with Petfinder under area code 02885, but will have All for the Animals, or Perry’s Orphans listed with the pet’s name. These animals are pre-adopted under the fees and guidelines of each individual organization.

Winter safety tips

Keep an eye on the temperature. When it falls below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, it's best to keep your pet indoors. Short-haired dogs, cats and puppies should be kept indoors when the temperature dips below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

Check your garage and driveway for antifreeze. It tastes sweet to pets, but most brands are poisonous if consumed.

Ice-melting chemicals can irritate and burn the pads of your pet's feet. Wipe off your dog's feet when it comes inside out of the snow or ice.

Summer safety tips

Never leave your pet in a car, even with the windows slightly opened.

Never leave stagnant water in yards, it provides a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Provide plenty of cool, clean water and shelter from the sun at all times. Animals will dehydrate just as a human does.

Watch out for fleas and ticks that may infest you or your pet.
