Who We Are
We are a municipal shelter for the town of Warren. We take in stray dogs and sick or injured cats and try to find their owners. Every effort is made to locate an animals owner via microchip scans, identification tags, and dog license registrations. If an owner can't be found after five days, we offer the animal for adoption. We are not an owner turn in facility. Donations of all varieties are greatly appreciated. Financial donations can most readily be applied for immediately needed items and care. Adopting A Friend We are open Mon-Fri 730am-230pm and Sat and Sun 8am-2pm. If you call and leave a message, with your phone number, the animal control officer can call you back and arrange a special time at your convenience to view the animals, just call 401-245-4569. Most of our animals are spayed/neutered, up to date on vacs, cats are leukemia tested and dogs are heartworm tested.
A Few Facts About The Animal Shelter:
The Warren Animal Shelter is a municipally funded and run animal shelter. We are subsidized by Helping Hands for Animals, who are a charitable, non-profit organization who were granted their status July 21, 1986. The shelter itself was established in approximately 1970 to house the town’s loose canine residents. Helping Hands for Animals offers low cost spaying and neutering to the town residents on a fixed income. The Warren Animal Shelter is a shelter committed to taking in all sick, injured, abused domestic animals or stray dogs. Approximately 245 animals were taken in for 2005. About 76 animals were returned to owner. 151 were eventually adopted to new homes. Only about 13 were euthanized. Five animals started the New Year with the shelter. The Warren Animal Shelter can house up to 11 dogs and approximately 10 cats at any given time. The shelter also provides for other animals such as rabbits and ferrets.
